Thanks to Dr. Brian Palumbo, who donated his Saturdays to serve selflessly, we have been able to provide free orthopedic care to patients who are uninsured, homeless, and underprivileged.
Meet Laurie, Ron, and Rodna. These 3 patients struggled with debilitating pain due to arthritis and bone deformities. Because they didn’t have insurance or the necessary resources, they lived with mobility issues for years. On Saturday December 4th, all 3 patients received free hip or knee replacement surgery!
Under the umbrella of OPERATION WALK USA, in collaboration with AdventHealth Carrollwood, the Florida Orthopedic Institute, Pioneer Medical Foundation, and many vendors, these patients finally got the surgery they desperately needed.
We are grateful for the Florida Orthopedic Institute, Lee Levanduski, Erica Franklin, Jessica O’Brian, and their team who have been integral with the pre and post op care of these patients. We are also grateful for Erika Skula and the whole C suite at AdventHealth Carrollwood for partnering with us and donating thier time. They are truly inspirational leaders. Last but not least, we’d like to thank the OR staff, Dr. Warner and team, Douglas Clark, RN, and the pre op and pacu nurses.
This project would not have been possible without the 70 volunteers who worked on it
