Get to Know Me
“Fascinated by mysteries & problem solving and motivated by the desire to help others, I knew I wanted to be a physician since childhood.
I believe there are 2 sides to treating my patients. The first side involves gathering symptoms and stories to help me get to the bottom of what’s going on, like piecing together a puzzle. The second side involves building relationships and connecting with my patients.
I truly enjoy helping people, so I don’t adhere to the old-fashioned doctor-patient relationship. I like to take it to the next level by getting to know my patient better, leading the conversation, and revisiting the purpose of their visit. Sometimes patients just need someone to talk to.
I chose Pioneer, because of the level of care and compassion they provide for their patients. I experienced this firsthand when my father was in the hospital under the care of Dr. Kalpesh Patel. I was so moved that I held on to Dr. Patel’s business card until the time came for me to apply. Through this experience, I learned the importance of treating every patient like I would want my loved one to be treated.
When treating patients, I believe it’s important to have a plan and make a connection early to establish trust. Involving the patient and their loved ones in decision making, ensuring the patient and their loved ones understand what’s happening, and letting them know when they should expect discharge are important to me. In my mind, the worst thing a physician can do is walk into a patient’s room for five minutes to say hi and bye.”
