Dr. Mikael has been a Hospitalist with Pioneer Medical Group since 2017. He was born and raised in Western Canada, where he received his double Bachelor of Science and Psychology at the University of Calgary. He obtained his Medical Degree at St George’s University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at St Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Mikael initially began his career as a Hospitalist in 2013 with AdventHealth Sebring and became the Medical Director of CDI as well as a Physician Advisor. Since joining Pioneer, Dr. Mikael has helped establish our Hospitalist group at AdventHealth Kissimmee and also served as the Medical Director. He additionally became Medical Director of the Observation Unit, Transformational Medical Director, and has helped lead the Catalyst Committee in the Central Florida Region. He graduated from the AdventHealth Leadership Fellowship in 2019 and taught the WHOLE Communication course around the region.
In February of 2020, Dr. Mikael moved to the West Florida Division and became the Medical Director for AdventHealth North Pinellas. In 2021, he served as the Vice Chief of Medicine, and he currently sits as the Chief of Medicine for the hospital.
Outside of work, Dr. Mikael has 16-month-old twins and a passion for traveling and photography. He believes that anything is possible and has proven this time and again throughout his career and personal life.
