Pioneer Medical Foundation’s mission is to serve the homeless, refugee, uninsured and underinsured adult population with quality medical care and resources free of cost. We currently provide services to Hillsborough and Pasco counties; our goal is to assist patients to complete the circle in the continuum of their care by not only providing the necessary medical care, but also providing the resources to assist with the social determinants of health.

We believe that healing should be holistic and encompass the body, mind, and the lifestyle of the patient. Thanks to the ongoing support and commitment of our community partners and the Pioneer medical staff volunteers, we are able to offer our patients additional resources.

We serve each patient with compassion and care. We ensure that when the patient’s visit is complete, they understand the status of their condition, have the appropriate medications, and the information needed to continue to care for their health. We do not discharge our patients; we transition them to another level of care.

2020 was a challenging year for everyone. The vulnerable population, that we serve, was greatly impacted. Many of their general resources were no longer accessible due to the pandemic. The Foundation team was committed to overcoming the obstacles and immediately identified a plan of action to care for our patients. The plan included partnering with Smart Clinix to provide telemedicine, contacting the State of Florida to perform COVID testing in the community, and partnered with the USF COCO clinic to treat uninsured patients with COVID 19. Despite the challenges we faced in 2020, we provided care to over 3,000 patients!

With a new year ahead, we are working diligently to overcome the ongoing hardships that affected our community in 2020. The Pioneer Medical Foundation continues to provide telemedicine services and we established a partnership with the State of Florida and AdventHealth to administer COVID 19 vaccinations. The Pioneer Foundation team is excited to expand our services into the community with a focus on cardiac health and education. We are bridging the gap of access to healthcare with the addition of scheduled community health screening events throughout West and Central Florida. We will provide:

  • Onsite blood pressure and blood glucose checks • Free COVID testing, if uninsured
  • Community health resource information • An onsite physician
  • Free masks and hand sanitizers • Healthy heart education and more
  • Free multivitamins
  • Free COVID testing, if uninsured

Our 2021 goals and commitment are to significantly increase the patient care opportunities in the community, expand our healthcare provider partnerships, and continue to identify innovative ways to improve the healthcare needs in our communities.
